Naples Cup!!!!!!

        'Twas the day before Naples Cup when all through the condo
Every creature excited, even the mouse

This night we got down into Naples. We flew down, and did all of the airport stuff, and then went to P.F. Changs. On a Friday night it was closed. Thursday, November 11, A dude with a road grinder got to the high gas line and blew it up or something like that. So no P.F. Changs:( So then we went to Publix and got some food:)My two friends got some cold cuts. My friends dad eat them along with my two friends. After dinner, which had steak, my two friends and the dad had tummy problems:( My dad and I didn't:)Then we got ready and went to bed.

We got up at 6:00am. We got ready, in our swimsuits and Gill tops, and had bacon and eggs for breakfast. We went to Lowdermilk park at about 6:45 or so. We went to the Tackle Skack tent and picked up my chartered opti. We got a new batten because the bottom one didn't have what the top one had. So we cut the new batten and put it in correctly. I, notice I, rigged my boat. Then we put it on the beach. Now we had an hour till the skipper's meeting! My dad and I chilled. The skipper's meeting wasn't much for the green fleet. So then we headed off in a while. I did better than I thought I was going to do, 21^st. I did a lot better the second race, 8^th. Something happened the third race, 19^th. My best race SO FAR, 5^th! My second throwout(21^st), I got a 26^th. Then the day is done. 3:00 we are to head in. After we packed up, we went to The Dock. A nice restaurant. We were there with 11 people total! Then we went back to the condo and chalk-talked about sailing this day. Then, finally, we went to bed.

Hello! It's Sunday! Nice to see you at 6:30 when I woke up. We didn't have to be there as early as we did on Saturday. We had bacon & eggs again. We left around 7:00. We rigged, put it on the beach, and... I didn't have my life jacket. So my dad went to the condo. (Which took a half an hour to get to. It was 9:00. We set off at 9:30.) So at 9:15, my friend's dad bought me a new life jacket!!! Then it was time to race the first race. I did okay, I got 11^th. The next race was totally sweet, 1^st!!! Then, next race, ALMOST 3^rd, lost 1^st, I got 2^nd! Then I totally lost 1^st & 2^nd so I got 3^rd. Wow! 1, 2, 3! That's how I did. Then I went onshore. I derigged my awesome optimist pram. I went to the results(Yes, they were up that fast.) I was in 6^th place!!!!!! I asked a guy who he was protesting. The usual no turn. I asked a nother dude who he was protesting. "11883." "Hey, that's me, why are you protesting?" "You missed a mark." "No, explain." "Well, you weren't doing so well and you went under the mark and you became second place." I was puzzled. I went to my daddy to say someone is protest ing me because I "missed a mark!" He came with me, of course. I said, "Excuse me, are you the one who is protesting me?" "Yes." (Explanation goes here.) "I have that very rounding on video, would you like to withdraw your protest?" "Okay." (Withdrawing goes here.) Then we waited a while and then went to the awards. (Awards to 7^th goes here.) And in 6^th place, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, 11883. Yay!!!!!! Yay!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

Then we went to The Dock again. It only had 5 people that time. Then after dinner, we took a golf course run. We ran through the golf course sprinklers. We had a nother chalk-talk about sailing. We stayed up till 11:30. That was fun. Then we went to bed! Yay, it was a good day.

We had breakfast! Oh my gosh!!!! Of course. Then We waited a long time to go to the Ritz pool. Then at 2:45, we went to the condo, packed up and went to the airport at aroung 3:30. Every thing packed nicer, even though I have 2 more items (life jacket and trophy.) The airport was a real hassle. We couldn't carry-on my blade bag. It had to be checked in. The TSA manager didn't even open the bag to consider it. It made it through in Grand Rapids. The flight from Fort Myers to Baltimore wasn't interesting at all. Row 31 on a Boeing 717 has no window!!! Not even glass!! The row ahead had a window, but, what a nace view, an engine. Then we got to Baltimore. There was a 20-minute delay. It was scheduled for 9:40, then it was 10:00. Then when we got onto the delayed plane, the flight before had an oxygen leak in the pilot place. Then we changed planes. I took a while to get to Grand Rapids. It was 12:30 when we flew in. We didn't get home till 1:00am. Then we went home and I skipped a morning of school:)

Yippee, it's three weeks untill the Naples Cup!! I found out that 4 of my friends are going, too. Also, just 1 of my friends went to the Junior Olympics.

Junior Olympics

I got back from the Junior Olympics in Holland, MI. We got to sail in Lake Michigan on the first day, but then we had to go inside to Lake Macatawa. The wind was light both days. I didn't do my world class sailing (at least I think I could do a little better.) The second day was really light, we went out to the big lake, then we had to come in.

Then it was (better) wind.

Then after 10 races and 1 throwout, it was time to go in:(. I got 9^th overall opti RWB!! But I got 5^th in tthe white fleet.

Fast sailing from the Cheese Whiz!

I just got back from Reeds Lake in EGR and the wind was awesome! We practiced upwind, downwind and a little bit of reaching. It was shifty. I looked good sailin'. It was 52°^F, but with all of our stuff on, it felt warmer than 52°^F. Now I can't wait till Junior Olympics!

This is a website that is a blog that is all sailing news for the Grand Rapids Yacht Club sailor, Cheese. I sail the Optimist Pram. The first race I will be posting about is the Junior Olympics.
